First Short Story!

Hi!! This is my first short story on this blog, I hope you enjoy and give feedback.

I wrote this with the following prompt: 'A time life turned out to be better than expected.'

On a dry and dusky evening, a gloomy looking Alvin was moping around his neighbourhood. He was grounded for three weeks starting tomorrow because of his low math grade. He couldn't go to the skateboard park, his friends there would tease him, he couldn't go to the other one, his friends would tease him. Wait. His friends couldn't in two places at once. Better go to the park and hide under the slides till 6 o'clock.

He trudged his way over to the park with his small back bent. A few blocks away from the park, he could hear loud, thumping music and the deafening cheer of a crowd. Something about the music seemed very familiar. he started walking faster until he saw the source of the music. It was a band playing on a makeshift stage. And not just any band. It was Alvin's all time favorite, 'The Sunsetters' band. Although Alvin could hardly see the front, he squeezed his way though the jumping and dancing bodies to reach the front.

When he finally did, he started cheering like crazy. He could hardly believe his luck. A Sunsetter's event in his neighborhood! Every other event of theirs was outside the city, and dad would never have enough time to take him. This was heaven.

Apparently, this was the last song because the lead singer started thanking everyone. Then he made a very special announcement which was like honey to Alvin's ears.

"And now! I will invite this young boy who has been sporting so much enthusiasm, to come up on the stage to receive tonight's special gift." he pointed at Alvin.

Someone carried him over to the stage and plopped him there. He vigorously shook the singer's hand and got handed a signed T-shirt too big for him.

Life was way better than expected.
