I love classic literature. The books are so timeless that one can read them anytime. When people think of classics, they might think of Charles Dickens or Shakespeare. But classic literature is much more than that.

Today, I am sharing 10 books that can make you fall in love with classics.

never-ending

Rebecca - by Daphne du Maurier

This was the first Maurier book I have read, and I was impressed. Her descriptions of nature are by far the best I've read.

This book is about a young girl married to a widow. Her husband's previous wife's name is Rebecca (this and the title kind of tells you what the book will be like), and everyone at her new home Manderly will do their best to remind her that she will never be better than Rebecca.

I found most of this book quite dull, to be honest, but once you reach the ending, everything will be worth it. In fact, I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't for the ending.

Whose Body - by Dorothy L. Slayers

Naked man in a bathtub with a pince-nez? Quite an odd murder, don't you think? And the face is shaved after the death?

Whose Body by Slayers is a cozy mystery you are sure to enjoy. Mysteries are my way out of a reading slump. What better way to do it than a classic mystery?

Also, this is the first in the series of Lord Peter Wimsey's detective adventures. Read more if you enjoy it.

Lady Susan - by Jane Austen

Austen is my favourite classic author, even though I have not read most of her books.

This one is short and witty. Written in letter format, this book is quite a fun read.

Lady Susan is widowed and searching for a new husband. She is what would be called scandalous. Ooo ooh.

She not only wants a good match for herself, she wants one for her daughter as well! This is perfect for a short and sweet read.

Heidi - Johanna Spyri

Heidi is just an awesome book. I enjoyed reading it so much. The descriptions were so nice. Throughout this book, I loved Heidi no matter where she was.

If you want a book about missing home, this is the one.

Little Women - by Louisa May Alcott

My all-time favourite book. This is featured on the main page of this website as well.

All the incidents written in this book are so heartfelt it is impossible not to read it again and again.

This is about 4 sisters and their mother living in war-torn times. Throughout this book, everything feels so genuine and real which is why this one is my favourite.

There are more books in the series which makes it a bonus if you want to read what happens next.

Anne Of Green Gables - by L.M Montgomery

Ever wondered how a cat of kid could be so adorable? Ask Anne. She knows it. With charming wit and her never-ending imagination, Anne is a favourite of many.

Here, she enters Green Gables, not knowing her life is about to change for ever.

You can also read other books in the series that bring you along on her adventure.

The Diary of a Young Girl - by Anne Frank

This is a non-fiction diary of Anne Frank. During the Nazi occupation, this young girl and her family hide in her father's office in Amsterdam. Not only an important piece of literature, this is extremely relatable for teenagers today.

Black Beauty - by Anna Sewell

This is a beautiful tale about a young horse. We get to see the hardships animals experience, and how much they appreciate kindness.

This is an amazing book if you love animals, particularly horses. Also, you will learn lots of new stuff.

The Alchemist - by Paulo Coelho

Originally written in Portuguese, this book is about chasing your dreams (literally). I read this book in a day and what interested me the most was the main character explored different countries and cultures. He started off by going to Morocco, and I'd just returned from there a couple of days back. So yeah! Read this for a calm adventure.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

And any other Sherlock Holmes book. This one in particular is a collection of his adventures. They are so witty and perfect that you will be amazed each time you read them. It will also inspire you to be a detective one day.

That's it! I haven't been able to post because this takes a lot of creativity, but I will try to be more organized with ideas and such to make this more regular.

I realized that 8/10 of these books are written by women. That just goes to show that women can do ANYTHING with a lot of prosperity.

See ya!
